School Life - Many new students join Cobram AGS

Cobram AGS aims to provide an experience that nurtures a child’s self-esteem, allowing them to realise their full potential and to be caring members of the School community, from Prep to VCE.

As a school with a history of passion for excellence, and also one of the newest schools of The Anglican Schools Commission (Inc.), our appeal and success lies in our strong sense of community, the standards and values we celebrate and our innovative and progressive approach to learning. We offer a quality education for students of all ages on the one campus: from pre-schoolers undertaking the transition to school program – ‘Step into Prep’, to Preps, Junior School, Middle and Senior School and, to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE).

Our Pre-Prep Orientation Program commences in Term Four of the year prior to the child starting at Cobram AGS and comprises of six sessions. The first sessions are short morning sessions where parents are encouraged to stay, the sessions slowly increase in duration through to the final session being a full day. Our Pre-Prep programme allows our students to become familiar with their classroom teacher, classmates and their surroundings.

Students moving into the Middle School, and those who will be joining Cobram AGS, in the Middle School, also have the opportunity to join in on classes and experience all the exciting opportunities and engaging curriculum on offer for 2019. Transition Days provide Middle School students with an opportunity to meet key staff and further develop and strengthen friendships, while participating in a wide range of ‘getting to know you’ activities.

At the top end of the school, our Senior School students undertake a comprehensive Head Start Program in all of their 2019 VCE subjects. Over a two-week period, current Year 10 and Year 11 students, along with newly enrolling students, enjoy a taste of what their VCE subjects will be like, meeting their subject teachers and being introduced to the topics and texts that they will be studying. For our current Year Nine (2019 Year Ten) students, it is their first experience of the exciting challenges of VCE, as they step up into their ‘VCE Fast Track’ subjects for the first time.

Cobram Anglican Grammar School is excited about the future and looks forward to working with all students and parents as we set our sights on the 2019 academic year.
