School Life - Developing a sense of Community

Year 10 students have again actively participated in the Meals on Wheels program for their Community Service. Students are involved in this very worthwhile service to deliver meals to the elderly in our community as part of our commitment to assisting them in developing a sense of community awareness. Community Service provides opportunities for young people to develop the values, skills and understandings needed to contribute to civic wellbeing. The vision of this Community Service program is to try and break down barriers, while encouraging awareness, acceptance and tolerance which will provide enjoyment for all participating students and community members.

Students are always eager to participate in this very worthwhile service; for many, it is their only connection with senior members of the community and they thoroughly enjoy it.  Feedback has shown that the recipients of the meals also enjoy the interaction with the younger members of the community, making it a positive experience for all.
