Ella Goldsmith - Lions Club Youth of the Year contestant

The Lions Club Youth of the Year Public Speaking competition is a prestigious event that has been held across Australia for over fifty years. The competition requires entrants to present a five minute, prepared speech, answer impromptu questions focussing on issues that affect young people and the broader community, present a resume of their contributions to the cultural, sporting and civic lives of their schools and communities and undertake an interview in which they answer questions about their views on local, national and global issues of significance. To undertake this challenge is a highly commendable effort for any student; being a part of this competition is a reward in itself. On Tuesday, February 27, Ella Goldsmith competed alongside other students from the district and represented the school with great distinction.

Ella presented a thoughtful and assured speech on Australia Day. Ella’s performance in this section, along with her impromptu responses and interview, saw her highly commended by the judges and awarded the well-deserved Best Public Speaking Award. The school is extremely proud of Ella’s achievements.
