School Life - Lifesaving Addition

Cobram Anglican Grammar School is proud to announce its recent purchase and installation of a defibrillator, in the administration area of the school, for use in emergency situations.

Teaching and Support Staff at the School recently completed their annual First Aid and CPR update with St. John’s Ambulance instructors. During the presentation, trainers noted potential lifesaving outcomes where the application of a defibrillator to a patient in a relevant emergency situation has been initiated.

The importance of having quick and convenient access to a defibrillator, especially in a school environment, was highlighted.
In part, St. John's Ambulance FAQs state, every minute a person waits for defibrillation, the chance of personal survival decreases by 10%, giving lifesaving treatment a window of 10 minutes to be administered in an emergency situation.

Business Manager and OHS Coordinator, Mrs. Narelle Schreenan (pictured), was impressed with the purchase. ‘This is a critically important piece of First Aid infrastructure’, she said. ‘The importance of this acquisition within the context of its potential lifesaving capabilities, cannot be overstated’, she added.
